Thermo Fisher, a biotechnology company, located in Nashville Tennessee asked Durable Surfaces to assist in installing a coating system in their pharmaceutical facility.

Our team prepped the entire space to achieve the recommended CSP before priming the slab with a moisture barrier. During the process, there were temperature fluctuations causing our team to troubleshoot and install 40 mil of a flexible epoxy over all control joints to protect the joints from cracking. This created a membrane layer so if there was any joint movement, it wouldn’t not crack through the floor.

We applied a topcoat to the floor with pigmented epoxy to achieve an orange peel finish to help with the slip resistance they were looking for.

An epoxy coating system is a great option for a pharmaceutical space as it is chemically bonded to the floor, making it resistant to damage from heavy foot traffic, extreme temperatures, and spills of corrosive chemicals.
